Keeping aquatic facilities safe is a big responsibility. The Red Cross, a leading provider of lifeguard training, helps make sure your lifeguard has the skills to rescue you or a loved one. Lifeguards spend a minimum of 35 hours of intensive training - both in and out of the water. All lifeguards learn how to recognize potential hazards before they become dangerous and how to respond quickly in emergencies. They must also pass a professional level CPR class, a class on Preventing Disease Transmission, and a class on AED essentials.

If you are looking for a great summer job or a challenging career as a professional lifeguard, Red Cross Lifeguard Training is the best place to start. You'll get all the training you need to be prepared to respond to aquatic emergencies, and you'll be certified by the American Red Cross - the reconized leader in water safety education. This comprehensive course makes learning easy and fun. You won't find a better program anywhere!

Note: Additional courses, such as American Red Cross Waterfront/Waterpark Lifeguard Training and O2 for the Professional Rescuer are not usually taught with the course. If you are seeking one of these courses, contact the Health & Safety Services Director.
